Raising a Modern Family

A look at the challenges of raising kids in today’s world.

Today’s Families

Certainly each generation of parents have their own challenges they face when raising kids. And today’s families face different influences than those of, say 50 years ago. So while much has stayed the same, the differences are significant. Sharon Hall, Author of Raising Kids in the 21st Century elaborates. “The major influence of children’s development is absolutely their parents. However, there is a lot more media today than there was 50 years ago. The accessibility to that media is usually all around our homes today, and that’s a difference. It is also the case that the majority of families have both parents working out of the home today and this has meant that families have had to shift some in order to be good monitors and filters for their children in order to be positive parents.”
