How getting parents off the couch makes healthier kids.
Do you wish your kids were a little more physically active, but are at wit’s end on how to get them up and about? Well, you may want to start with getting yourself off the couch! Dr. Ed Abramson, author of Body Intelligence says when it comes to being fit, children look to their parents, literally. “I think parents really do teach by example. Children need to see their mothers and fathers making some choices and I think modeling is especially important when it comes to physical activity. Having a parent say ‘go out, you need to get some exercise’ while the parent is sitting on the couch probably is not going to be too effective. Parents should go out and ride bikes with the kids, or take a walk with the kids, or shoot basketballs with the kids.”
