Why grabbing a power nap is good for you and your children.
Whether it’s dealing with the sleep deprivation of the newborn phase, or the energy- consuming period of the toddler and preschool years, or the homework helping-chauffeuring time of the school years, most parents, understandably, often feel exhausted. Which is why Dr. Cathryn Tobin, author of The Lullababy Sleep Plan says we should reward our hard work with power naps. “I strongly believe that parents benefit from taking little power naps. Olympic trainers nap, Lance Armstrong napped, NASA people napped. Naps help you feel good, feel restored, feel energetic, remember things short-term and remember things longer termed. I recommend parents take a morning nap or an afternoon nap and just a very tiny nap, meaning it can be a few minutes or it can be up to 15 or 20 minutes. It shouldn’t be longer than that or you feel groggy when you wake up.”
