The many benefits of signing your child up for day-camps.
For many parents, childcare can be a big problem during the summer months. But day-camps are a great alternative for summer childcare, offering a wide variety of interesting camps to keep kids active, engaged and they’re less expensive than sleep-over camps. Plus you can still be with your kids in the evenings says Dr. Harley Rotbart, author of No Regrets Parenting. “With day-camps, kids get to sleep at home at night and you’re there. You get the benefit of all of the learning and growth of a sleep-away camp at a day-camp. They get the outdoor experience, kids get the socialization just as they would at a sleep-away camp, but then they’re home at night with you to take a walk after dinner or to go to the baseball game. It seems like our summers are so precious. We should take advantage of the day care that day-camps provide, but not give away the evening that we would otherwise have with our kids.”
