A few driving safety tips for those school zones.
Now that summer is gone and the kids are back in school, it’s time to put our guard back up when it comes to driving in those school zones. As well as slowing down, we need to become extra vigilant when we’re dropping off and picking up our children. Child safety expert and author of The Safe Baby, Debra Smiley Holtzman, offers some advice for driving safely in a school zone. “The school should have an organized program in place, or policy in place whereby the children are let out in an orderly manner, where nobody is running out of the school or out onto the street to see their parents. It should be done orderly. Parents should be very alert in school zones, honoring the speed limit. Parents should also engage in complete focus; they shouldn’t be reading a magazine. You need to keep your eyes open when you’re waiting for a child especially in a school zone.”
