Humor in the Family

Why the family that laughs together stays together.

Humor in the Family

Being a parent is serious stuff, but that doesn’t man we need to be only serious with our kids.  Laughing and joking and having fun with our children is just as important, maybe even more important, than setting limits or helping with homework, seriously! Dr. Harley Rotbart, author of No Regrets Parenting explains. “I believe that kids have fun buttons in their brain. Laughter is part of pushing that fun button. Belly laughing bonds parents and kids better than just about anything else. Be goofy with your kids. The best thing a parent can hear, I think, is for a child to be telling one of their friends, one of the kid’s friends, “this is my dad, he’s funny.” It’s a wonderful thing to be a funny parent because not only are you funny, but your kids are bonding to you, you’re bonding to them, and they’re listening to what you say in between the laughs.”
