Why creating your very own family traditions is so important.
With the holiday season well upon us, it’s easy for families to get lost in the chaos of it all. It’s why it’s so vital to find those moments that are unique for your family, and your family only. It’s what really makes holidays memorable. Pediatrician and author of No Regrets Parenting, Dr. Harley Rotbart, elaborates. “It’s really important, even within the larger family traditions especially around the holidays, to create a niche, a family tradition unique to your family within the larger tradition. So, for example, taking your kids to volunteer at a food shelter on Thanksgiving morning or the half-time football game in the backyard on Thanksgiving Day or Christmas Day where everybody goes out and even in the snow throws the football around. Find that unique time that is just set aside for you and your kids within the greater context of the holiday chaos.”
