Staycations

Why the best family holiday could be right at home.

Staycations

Sometimes it’s easy to forget about all of the great activities available right in our own backyard. There’s local museums, pools, and parks to name but a few, and exploring these can be just as fun and exciting as going away. Dr. Harley Rotbart, pediatrician and author of No Regrets Parenting elaborates on the many benefits of staycations. “There are a lot of local activities, exciting activities you can do from home. Kids don’t remember how expensive or how exotic their vacations are. Especially in the pre-teen years, what kids remember about their vacations is their time with you and if you devote and dedicate your time on vacations with your kids, they actually don’t care if they’re sleeping in their own beds at night and just taking day trips. That is vacation for them.”
