What every parent needs to keep in mind when it comes to outdoor poisons.
Now that spring is here, so is the gardening season and with it, potential hazards. While many municipalities now ban pesticide use, that doesn’t mean to say that we can let our guard down when it comes to our children, because even the more natural products we use can still be poisonous. Executive Director of SafeKids Canada, Pamella Fuselli has these tips to keep kids safe. “For the outside products such as fertilizers and gardening supplies, keep them in the same containers that they came in, keep them up high and locked away if possible, and use them, ideally, when the children aren’t around. That would be the safest thing to do, to make sure that children aren’t around when you’re spreading the fertilizer on the beds or spraying. If they are around, make sure they are well out of reach of the products like that and then make sure you have your eyes on them. Actively supervise to keep them away from those substances.”
