How technology ensures you’re gone but not forgotten while on maternity leave.
Keeping in touch with your employer while on maternity or paternity leave isn’t a bad idea. It can keep you in the know with any changes taking place while you’re away, and you won’t feel so rusty when you get back to work.
Nora Spinks, CEO for the Vanier Institute for the Family says that technology has a big role to play in this. “The transition from maternity leave to the work place, or from the workplace to maternity or parental leave, with technology we are able to ease into either the leave or back in to work. So we can start working from home, for those of us who work in a knowledge-based economy. We can stay connected to our care-givers, we can phone in, we can use iPad technology to snuggle with our babies even when we’re not there with them. It’s not the perfect substitute, but it’s a whole lot better than nothing at all.”
