Moms and Self Care

Why finding a little down time is better for moms and kids.

Moms and Self Care

Let’s face it, when you’re a mom it’s difficult to find time that’s just for you.  A soak in a hot tub or curling up with a good book can be salvation for a busy mom, but sadly, too often finding those moments can seem like an impossible task.  But a little “me time” is vital explains Alyson Schafer, author of Honey I Wrecked the Kids. “Many moms think that if they do anything for themselves that they must be selfish, and I have to really encourage parents, moms especially, to experiment with self-care.  Think of it as self-care, not selfish. When you look after yourself, your kids are watching you act in a self respecting manner, and what you find is you become rejuvenated and when you become rejuvenated you are alive and you are ready to parent and engage in a far more productive way than you could than if you were beat up, tired and worn down.”
